Alex's Chebureki - a savoury pasty - from Abkhazia

Alex makes his mothers Chebureki for the first time ever - and eats them for the first time since 1997. A simple, tasty and satisfying food, from Abkhazia. Alex comes from Abkhazia, between Turkey and Russia, but disputes in the region have rendered him stateless. He has been a member of Stories & Supper for over three years and especially enjoys spending time at our allotment. Alex’s mother used to cook these Tatar pastries called chebureki every time he visited her. When he made them for our video he hadn’t eaten them since 1997 – the last time he saw his mother.
